El Rocko
Chase Waller is the 26-year-old singer/songwriter behind the moniker El Rocko. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Waller relocated to Chattanooga after college, where he now works as a middle-school teacher. Though he has been writing songs for most of his life, Waller started creating music under the alias "El Rocko" back in 2019, when he released his first single on Yellow Racket, “Half the Day.”
Heavily influenced by 90s alt-rock and shoegaze, El Rocko’s music combines ragged guitars and mellow vocals with simple, honest lyrics to produce dreamy and wide-ranging songs, flitting between simple folk music and lush dream pop. Drawing inspiration from bands like Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Radiohead, and Duster, El Rocko’s songs are intimate, confessional, and always a little off-center.
